InfoSecurity 2016 – Take A Breath

Now that the dust has settled and we have a chance to breathe again after what was a tremendously busy event for WALLIX, we can take a step back and review some of the really exciting engagements we had with many companies from across Europe that visited with a primary interest in Privileged Access Management. The chance to meet with colleagues and contact across the industry was great, also to take a strategic view of which technologies are breaking through the noise and looking to make an impact were also highlights of this year’s event, as always.

Now in its 21st year, the annual InfoSecurity 2016 event welcomed over 15,000 security professionals, 250 plus speakers and 315 plus vendors all focused on the coming years and the digital threats we all address as an industry. This was not just a great opportunity to meet existing customers and ex-colleagues, but also a chance to sit in on some of the presentations delivered by industry leaders taking place across the arena, some that actually validated our holistic approach to managing insider treats.

More and Deeper Questions Around PAM

This year we noticed an increase in interest in privileged access management (PAM) from companies from across Europe in sectors including transportation, manufacturing, financial services, local and national government. We had a number of great meetings with IT professionals at all levels about immediate and future requirements to control how system administrators, including contractors, are governed across the infrastructure. Being able to provide session recording for the auditing the conditions around a breach came through as being a really important feature for audit purposes. For us, this was a massive evolution from the previous year where the need for a fully mature and easy to deploy PAM solution has grown enormously.

Another Driver For A PAM Solution On The Horizon

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was also a major point of concern for companies that visited us. Our conclusion was that 50% had a clear plan for managing the many silos of non and confidential data across their business and had even started the process by conducting initial impact assessments. One of the resonating observations from the remaining 50% was that currently they were working at full utilisation delivering on “urgent” projects waiting for direction and participation from other departments about how to address their GDPR posture.

See You Next Year?

We were really excited by the growth in customer awareness and the increasing need for credible solutions in the area of Privileged Access Management. At WALLIX we believe that given our strategic approach and award winning technology we will remain ahead of customer expectation and are looking to welcoming you to see our technology at InfoSecurity 2017.
